Babcock Dairy Wins Silver and Bronze in The Best of Madison!
Babcock wins a Bronze medal in the Best Cheese Producer for the first time ever, and continues a winning streak for Silver in the Ice Cream/Custard category again in 2025.

The Madison Magazine honored local businesses in their annual Best of Madison contest with a party at the Edgewater Hotel on Monday, September 29th, and the Babcock Dairy took home two prizes this year: Silver, in the Best Ice Cream/Custard category, and a Bronze in the Best Cheese Producer category. The 44th annual Best of Madison Awards, hosted by Madison Magazine, announced award winners on September 27, 2025. Area residents nominated more than 150 local businesses in a variety of categories, including food & drink, local businesses, and fitness to arts & entertainment, authors, and media. Then the voting takes place online. The contest has been held for over four decades, highlighting the top businesses, people, and experiences in the Madison area. Over 25,000 people cast over 290,000 final votes to determine the winners.

It’s the first time the Babcock Dairy has won in the Best Cheese of Madison group, that’s pretty exciting to be recognized alongside some of the biggest cheese producers in the region!

The ice cream at Babcock Dairy has won awards in the past, and the Silver medal was an extension of the winning streak, according to Kari Backes, Babcock Dairy Store Manager,
We won the Silver medal in the Ice Cream category last year too. The Chocolate Shoppe often takes the top honors. It is really great that our small facility competes with them, and brought home the Silver again for 2025.
