We produce signature dairy products for the University of Wisconsin – Madison and the surrounding community. Through this, the Babcock Dairy Plant and Dairy Store help support the University of Wisconsin Food Science Department’s mission of research, teaching and outreach.
Dining With Babcock
Babcock serves a variety of sandwiches for curbside pickup. Each sandwich is made fresh and features cheese made here at Babcock Hall. In-store dining and pickup are available at this time. Cash no longer accepted.
Our renowned ice cream is available in a wide variety of flavors and styles. Our recipe for our standard ice cream mix hasn’t changed since we began, in 1951. The Dairy Store typically has 22 flavors on hand so you can enjoy an ice cream treat at our store or take a pint, half-gallon or a three-gallon tub with you.
Since 1951 the Babcock Dairy Plant has been producing a wide variety of award-winning cheeses. We currently offer 23 flavors of cheese and they are all made by our student production interns with the guidance of Master Cheesemaker, Gary Grossen.
The back lot is open for free parking after 4:30 p.m, Monday-Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the back lot is open all day to the public for free parking, but there are no handicap entrances on that side of the building.
