Dairy Plant Renovation
After over 60 years, the Dairy Plant will finally be receiving a much needed renovation. Our dairy plant has officially shut down and ceased production as of late September, but have no fear! Our ice cream will be made in Chocolate Shoppe’s facilities as a co-packer, and it will continue to be sold in our store and other locations. Our store hours will NOT be affected by this construction. We are very excited about this renovation and we hope you are too!
Overall Grand Champion Gouda
We are so proud of our wonderful cheesemakers here at Babcock! At the end of August, Babcock Hall Dairy’s Gouda cheese wheel was awarded the title of Overall Grand Champion at the World Dairy Expo. With a record 1,536 entries across all categories, this year’s event was extremely successful and competitive. The cheese was judged by 50 highly-trained sensory experts, and it scored a perfect 100. Stop by the store to give it a taste yourself!

1st Place Gouda
Our wonderful master cheesemaker, Gary Grossen, produced an award-winning cheese for the Wisconsin State Fair cheese contest! Our Gouda took 1st place in the semi-soft cheese category and our Fontina took 5th place in the same category. Both cheeses received scores of over a 99 out of 100!
MGE Falcon’s Named After Babcock Flavors
On June 12th, 2018, Babcock was honored to attend the banding ceremony of the four newest peregrine falcons to hatch from MGE’s nesting box. The box was installed in 1999, but remained untouched until 2009. Since then, the box has been nested in every year, producing a current total of 39 chicks. The chicks are tagged a few weeks after hatching, so they can be tracked after they depart. One Wisconsin falcon has been tracked as far as Venezuela. Having hatched in late May, this batch of chicks were banded this day and named after famous Babcock flavors — Crazylegs, Neutrino (after Blue Neutrino), Berry (after Berry Alvarez) and, of course, Babcock.
